Macaroni Craft: Apple Prints

By Christi McKeag Macaroni Kid North West Des Moines October 2, 2011

I love messy art activities and I love fall!  Combine those into this perfect print making activity!  This was one of my favorite activities to do in my preschool classroom when I taught, so I was excited to share this with my daughter earlier this month!

Apple Prints
What you will need:
2 apples
2 kabob sticks broken in half or 4 popsicle sticks
Tempera Paint
Paper
4 bowls with a small amount of paint in them (they must be large enough for the apple to sit in)

Cut one of your apples in half from top to bottom for the traditional apple shape.
*Some how I missed photographing this set of apples

Then cut one apple through the middle to expose a neat star pattern.

My daughter was very excited to discover that there was a star inside of apples!

Stick your kabob or popsicle sticks into the middle of the apple on the skin side, creating a handle to dip the fruit part of the apple in paint.

Allow your kids to paint until they are done!  Which for my daughter was about 45 minutes!

Neat star pattern in the paint!
