Spring Forward!

By Valene Lawrence March 7, 2012

Don't forget to Spring Forward this weekend! Spring Forward is by far my favorite time of the year. I hate Fall Back as it gets dark way too early and can't imagine it being like that all year long. I enjoy being able to go for a walk after dinner or just enjoying the outdoors. Spring forward was actually created during World War I to help save energy and have the daylight last longer for war production. So Daylight Savings Time allows us to this day to save money on energy due to the longer daylight hours.

When we change our clocks at 2 a.m. on March 11, 2012 the following will take effect:

Eastern Standard Time (EST) becomes Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

Central Standard Time (CST) becomes Central Daylight Time (CDT)

Mountain Standard Time (MST) becomes Mountain Daylight Time (MDT)

Pacific Standard Time (PST) becomes Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)

What is something you enjoy doing with longer daylight hours?
