The Amish Village Amish Holiday Traditions Tour and Back Roads Bus Tour Explores

Authentic Amish Traditions December 1 - 31

LANCASTER, PA – Christmastime reminds many of twinkling lights on the Christmas tree to bring holiday cheer, but did you know the Amish don’t include trees in their holiday décor finding it too extravagant? Instead they may place a single candle in each window of their home and light them at night to celebrate the season.  During The Amish Village, Amish Holiday Traditions Tour, learn intriguing facts about Amish holiday traditions and the reasons behind these customs of a culture that has remained the same for over 300 years.

A guided tour of an original 1840’s Amish Farmhouse offers an insider’s look at authentic Amish life in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, while showing how centuries-old heritage and religious beliefs influence how the Amish celebrate the holidays today. Traditional seasonal decorations will be on display throughout the farmhouse and one-room schoolhouse. Traditional Christmas gifts and holiday items are available for purchase while visitors have the opportunity to sample delicious, seasonal Amish delights. After the guided tour, visitors can explore the 12-acer Village Grounds including a one-room schoolhouse, farm and barn, blacksmith shop and smokehouse market.

The Holiday Traditions farmhouse tour can also be combined with the popular, Backroads Bus Tour where visitors can escape off the beaten path into the heart of scenic Lancaster County during this 90-minute narrated tour. During the tour, Amish traditions and beliefs will be shared and at least one stop will be made at a local farm stand, shop or farm.
