Tips for taking the Kids to Hersheypark Stadium for Summer Concerts

July 29, 2015
Hersheypark Stadium will welcome several of music’s biggest stars this summer. We recently went to the Ariana Grande concert and have some tips for taking kids to a concert at Hersheypark Stadium this summer.

Are you looking to take an infant with you to a concert? My 5 month old went with us and she really enjoyed the music. I ended up putting her in a carrier, so that I could dance, while wearing her in the carrier and she had a blast moving to the music with me. If you breastfeed I recommend you bring a cover up as the lights are pretty bright so everyone would be able to see what you are doing. If you bottle feed make sure that you have enough formula with you and put it into a small cooler that can fit in a larger bag until you are ready for it. Bring a large bag for things like diapers, teething rings, etc to keep baby occupied during down times. I actually clip teething rings to the strap of my bag for trips, as it has saved me many times.

Are you looking to take a toddler with you to a concert? My 18 month old is definitely a music lover, so she wanted to dance to the music. Hersheypark Stadium does not allow kids to stand on the chairs, so do keep that in mind when ordering tickets. In order for her to see either myself or my sister had to hold her. We ended up taking turns holding her and dancing. For her I made sure I had her cup and her favorite baby doll in my bag. It gets very hot on warm days with the amount of people, so make sure you keep them hydrated. I always also take crackers or granola bars to snack on in case she gets hungry, since we typically eat right before we go.

More tips for taking kids to a concert at Hersheypark Stadium:
- When parking try to park in a spot near the sidewalk, so the kids don't have to walk in the parking lot.
- If you have more than 2 kids or very young kids like us. Bring someone to help you. It can get very crowded when inside the stadium.
- Dress accordingly as the venue is outside, so dress for the weather forecast. No umbrellas are allowed inside the stadium. Poncho are a good idea if they are calling for rain.
- Make sure that the kids take a nap during the day, as the headliner artist will not come out until approximately 8:30-9pm. The opening act starts promptly at 7:30pm.
- Bring a set of earplugs for each child as you never know when you will be in front of a speaker or if it will be too loud as each child is different.
- Arrive early so the kids can enjoy a ride at Hershey's Chocolate World, which is easily accessed from the Hersheypark parking lot.
- Hersheypark also offers a discount admission price of just $41.95* to show-goers on either the day before, day of or day after the show. Show-goers can present their concert ticket at the Hersheypark Ticketing Services Building on one of the three days to receive the discount.
*All purchased tickets are subject to $.85 amusement tax.
