The national tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ is touching down in Lancaster as Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre brings the greatest family musical of all time to the stage after visiting 37 states and Canada. The tour traveled over 40,000 miles and entertained more than a quarter of a million people.

The reviews are in and THE WIZARD OF OZ is a “magical and fun for the whole family.” (BroadwayWorld). “The ensemble’s harmonies and choreography are tight.” Hear the orchestra as the “five-person ensemble brings forth the full sound needed to add the epic, cinematic notes to the stage production.” (Lancaster Newspaper). And get taken away to the land of Oz where “colors pop, sets shine and costumes dazzle.” (BroadwayWorld).

Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow are transported Over the Rainbow to adventures in Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest and the Emerald City. Featuring the classic songs like Over the Rainbow, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead and If I Only Had A Brain, along with the beloved characters, THE WIZARD OF OZ will have the entire family captivated as they travel down the yellow brick road for an unforgettable evening.

This production of THE WIZARD OF OZ is a spectacular celebration of the classic 1939 MGM film. It’s a new, refreshed and lavish rendition of the beloved classic. Audiences young and old, seeing it for the first time or the fifth, will be dazzled by the brightly colored sets, charmed by its timeless score and enthralled with its breathtaking special effects. It truly is a wonderful show for the whole family. And whether it creates new memories or conjures them up from the past, everyone deserves to experience or relive the wonderful, whimsical and enduring story, THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Featured in this production is Kalie Kaimann, who “makes a charming Dorothy Gale.” (Lancaster Newspaper). Kaimann was previously seen as this role for the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati. She has also performed as Bonnie in Anything Goes, Logainne in 25 th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Ulla in The Producers, Millie Dilmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie,Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly!, for which she received a Best Featured Actress in a Musical by BroadwayWorld.com.

Dutch Apple veteran Chris Duir plays Scarecrow. He was last seen at Dutch Apple as Bert in Mary Poppins. His other credits include the national tour of Grease (Eugene), Crazy For You (Bobby Child), Damn Yankees (Smokey), The Drowsy Chaperone (George) and Singin’ in the Rain (Production Tenor).

Dorothy’s friend Tinman is being played by another Dutch Apple veteran, Christopher Russell. His past credits include the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof (Avram/Perchik Understudy), Funny Girl (Eddie Ryan), The Producers (Leo Bloom), The Full Monty (Jerry Lukowski), Lend Me a Tenor (Max), Steppin’ Out (Geoffrey) and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Freddy Benson). He was recently seen here in Second Chances: The Thrift Shop Musical (Wally), for which he also composed the original score.

Nicholas J. Pearson plays Lion and is thrilled to bring to life this story of brains, heart and courage. “Pearson shows off some impressive pipes” in this production (Lancaster Newspaper). His previous credits include Crazy for You (Moose), The 25 th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (William Barfee), A Christmas Carol (Ghost of Christmas Present), Rocky Horror Show (Eddie), Spamalot (Mrs. Galahad/Sir Bedevere).

Directing this production is Dean Sobon. Sobon’s recent directing credits include the national tours of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Fiddler on the Roof, Something’s Afoot, Clue, the Musical, West Side Story, Oklahoma!, Crazy For You, A Christmas Carol, How to Succeed in Business, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, Big River, The Sound of Music and Guys and Dolls. He has worked for Dutch Apple for over twelve years and has had a vibrant career as both a director and performer.

Choreographing this production is Amy Marie McCleary. McCleary’s credits include the 2015 national tour of Memphis the Musical (Director/Choreographer) and Director/Choreographer of the recent Dutch Apple hits Grease, White Christmas, Peter Pan and Jesus Christ Superstar. She recently starred as Velma in Chicago at the Broadway Palm and directed/choreographed their record breaking production of Mamma Mia!.
