The Annual Summer Science Training Program (SSTP) hosted by the Millersville University College of Science and Technology returns this summer for our 37th year! Two unique five-day sessions of science, technology, and mathematics workshops will be held during the weeks of June 23 – 27 and July 7 – 11, 2025.

The programs are open to students entering grades 8 through grade 12 in the fall of 2025.

“Our week-long sessions provide workshops offering 'next level' exposure and application in the STEM fields,” says Dr. Ryan Wagner, associate professor, and chair of the Millersville University Biology Department. Each week consists of five days of exciting and unique workshop experiences.

Students will engage in two workshops each day between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. using fully equipped labs and classroom facilities in Millersville University’s Science and Technology complex.

Workshops will be taught for different age groups, with each consisting of 10 topics that fall under the STEM umbrella. SSTP provides participants with learning opportunities that are not typically available at the pre-college level. The program covers a wide range of academic disciplines with a focus on intensive student-teacher interaction, advanced learning, research and problem-solving. "The MU SSTP program is committed to providing an accessible, dynamic, and hands-on experience for students interested in learning more about the sciences," says Wagner. SSTP participants will benefit from the extensive experience of Millersville University mathematics, science, and technology faculty and staff who serve as instructors for all workshops. SSTP has been well received by everyone involved, including students, parents, and teachers.

Students can register for a session that is appropriate for their skill level, based on their grade as of fall 2025. Students entering 8th or 9th grade are encouraged to register for Session 1, while students entering 10th – 12th grades are encouraged to register for Session 2.

Registration is $250 per student and will cover supplies and instructional costs. The deadline to register is June 16 for Session 1 and June 30 for Session 2, or when sessions reach 24 participants (whichever comes first).
